Bunker Labs, a national nonprofit helping veteran and military spouse entrepreneurs, has teamed up with Newark Venture Partners to host an official Newark chapter launch, with the support of Prudential Foundation.
With 27 chapters nationwide, Bunker Labs will celebrate the opening of its 28th chapter, and the first in New Jersey, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception on Oct. 2. Bunker Labs is on track to have a chapter in every state by 2021.
“As a whole, the Newark community encompasses all the fundamental elements needed for a chapter to flourish: a sense of community and openness to what Bunker Labs can help veterans achieve,” said Bunker Labs Chief Executive Officer Todd Connor. “Newark is an optimal location to provide a wealth of resources and contacts to our veteran entrepreneurs.”
Bunker Labs seeks to inspire veterans and military spouses to start their own business by providing them proper training, resources and connections.
The Newark chapter’s volunteer city leaders, Alexa Modero and Jason Fermin, have spent the last six months building momentum for the location by establishing business connections and speaking with veterans and entrepreneurs throughout the Newark area.
“What I have noticed about my community is that Newark is constantly evolving and ready for change,” said Modero. “People are excited and open to helping these veterans see their dreams come to life; their support is what will allow this Bunker Labs chapter to really prosper.”
The opening reception and ribbon cutting will be held on Oct. 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newark Venture Partners at 1 Washington Place, 7th Floor in Newark.
