Macy’s shows their commitment to the veteran community as a part of their Big Give Back Campaign, a tradition dedicated to honoring the contributions of and providing support for local organizations. From July 1st through July 18th, 2019 Macy’s asked in-store customers to round up their purchase with the roundup amount donated in support veterans and military families. This year, the Macy’s Big Give Back campaign raised a total of $1,219,562.56 to be shared equally between Blue Star Families and Bunker Labs. This support from Macy’s will provide the funding for 12 new Bunker Labs chapter launches which is projected to impact nearly 5,000 veterans and military spouses in their pursuit of becoming business owners over the coming year.

Before the in-store campaign started Bunker Labs volunteer City Leaders had the opportunity to visit several Macy’s stores across the U.S.A. to share Bunker Labs’ mission and rally support for veterans & military spouses as entrepreneurs. Bunker Labs’ CEO, Todd Connor, was also personally involved, handing out a series of $100 Macy’s gift cards to inspiring active-duty military personnel, veterans, and military spouses he met while traveling across the country. With Macy’s generous support, Bunker Labs will continue to scale our impact to all 50 states by 2021 ensuring that every entrepreneur in the military-connected community has the resources needed to start and grow their own business.

Style is an important component of personal branding which Macy’s provides to their customers. At three special in-store events, Macy’s MyStylist teams provided military veterans and spouses with professional headshots, and personalized styling to help them express their business prowess through their appearance. Veronica Brigings of Atlanta says of the MyStylist program, “I can tell you that while I was on the stage speaking about the whole process I felt so confident and ready for any and everything. Everyone involved in the process made me feel so comfortable, therefore I was able to be myself.”

Macy’s support of our mission over the last two years was recognized with the annual Bunker Labs’ “Inspire” award presented at our National Leadership Summit in Seattle this past June. The award was accepted by Sung Su Pak, Vice President Store Manager of Downtown Seattle Macy’s. The “Inspire” award is granted to a partner who goes above and beyond to support the military community. As an extension of gratitude for the veteran entrepreneurs at Bunker Labs, Macy’s invited the Bunker Labs team and program participants to the NYSE closing bell ringing ceremony to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday and enjoy Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show.

We look forward to continuing to foster our partnership with Macy’s as we mobilize their support for Bunker Labs’ National Expansion. For more information on Macy’s free MyStylist Program click HERE. Also, please join Bunker Labs at our upcoming events across the country.
